Coachella? More like Gaga-chella, baby! On Friday, April 11, Lady Gaga descended from the heavens (or possibly a UFO) and kicked off Weekend 1 of Coachella 2025 with a set so fierce, so chaotic, and so extra that even the desert needed a fan.
Mother Monster, 39, strutted onto the main stage in Indio, California, and immediately summoned the spirits with “Bloody Mary” — yes, that TikTok-viral bop from 2011’s Born This Way. The Little Monsters in the crowd? Screaming. Crying. Shaking in their LED boots.
What followed was a hit parade of epic proportions: “Abracadabra,” “Judas,” and, of course, the eternal banger “Poker Face.” But this wasn’t just a concert — it was an Easter egg hunt for the pop-culturally obsessed.
During “Paparazzi,” Gaga donned a full suit of metal armor like she just walked off a sci-fi catwalk — a direct nod to her legendary music video. Then, for “Disease” from her 2025 album Mayhem, she got cozy beside a skeleton on stage. Casual. Because nothing says “I love my fans” like cuddling a bony bestie in front of 100,000 people.
Toward the show’s end, things got full-on theatrical as Gaga broke into a choreographed chessboard dance battle — tiara and all — referencing her “Bad Romance” era. One fan nailed it on X (formerly Twitter):
“Some things just don’t change. #GAGACHELLA.”
We agree. Gaga still owns the desert.
This performance marked her first Coachella appearance since 2017 — when she saved the day and filled in for a very pregnant Beyoncé. (Twins, remember? Iconic.)
Before the big night, Gaga teased her return on Instagram with a message that screamed Main Character Energy:
“I’ve long dreamed of throwing a massive night of chaos in the desert. I’m headlining. I’m starting the weekend. And we’re gonna DANCE till we drop.”
Spoiler alert: She delivered. And then some.
But wait — there’s more glitter where that came from. Gaga gushed to Rolling Stone about her fave track to perform: “Killah,” her collab with electronic sorcerer Gesaffelstein. She called it “really special” and promised the bridge would “pop off.” Translation: mayhem guaranteed.
After slaying both weekends of Coachella (alongside Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott), Gaga’s packing her rhinestone suitcases for a free show in Brazil, concerts in Singapore, and her highly anticipated Mayhem Ball Tour.
And let’s talk about Mayhem, her seventh studio album, which dropped March 7 and is already racking up Grammys. It’s pure chaos — in the best way. Gaga described it as “reassembling a shattered mirror” — a little dangerous, a little sparkly, and 100% Gaga.
Oh, and FYI: her fiancé, Michael Polansky, apparently talked her out of making Mayhem a full-on grunge album. We can’t decide if we’re relieved or robbed.
Either way, Coachella 2025 has spoken: Gaga didn’t just perform. She reigned.
